J. SAFRA SARASIN FEI VAULTING WORLD CUP™ FINAL IN BRIEF
For the second time in a row, the final in this discipline will take place in Basel.
DISCIPLINE
Vaulting is acrobatic gymnastics on the back of a horse. With elegance, strength and dynamism, the athletes perform gymnastic exercises in harmony with the horse’s movements and the music on the horse, which is led in canter in a circle by the lunger.
CATEGORIES
The Final is held in three categories: women’s individual, men’s individual and pas-de-deux (two women, two men or a mixed pair). A maximum of eight female and eight male vaulters take part in the individual final plus five pairs in the Pas-de-Deux.
QUALIFICATION
The defending champions in all three categories are automatically qualified.
Also eligible to compete are the best-ranked
- four female and four male vaulters from Europe,
- two female and two male vaulters from North or South America,
- one female and one male vaulter from all other continents and
- four Pas-de-Deux.
All four- and three-star tournaments as well as the FEI Vaulting Championships in 2024 count as qualifying tournaments.
COMPETITION FORMAT
Two tests lead to the decision. For the individual athletes, test 1 is a technical test and competition 2 is a free test, also called freestyle. In the Pas-de-Deux, both tests are freestyle. For the final result, the result of the first test is weighted at 40 percent and the result of the second test at 60 percent.
